The famous Mavericks surf competition was held yesterday along the Pacific coast south of San Francisco. Lots of people head out there to try to view (and photograph) the event. (Take a look John Mueller’s photographs at Flickr to get an idea of the crowds, the beautiful weather, and even a bit of surfing.)

I had some business in Santa Cruz this weekend - more accurately, my wife had some business there - so I took the opportunity to spent a few hours driving up the coast on Highway 1.

A photo. I went to Point Lobos this morning, but arrived before the gates opened. Rather than sit in my car for a half hour I drove south on Highway 1. This was my reward. :-)
